Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing)

Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical body contouring treatment that uses controlled cooling to reduce pockets of stubborn fat that persist despite a healthy diet and exercise. Treatments take around one hour, require no anaesthetic or incisions, and most patients return to normal activities the same day. It is a contouring treatment for localised fat, not a weight-loss treatment.

How it works:

Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the skin, muscle and nerves around them. During treatment the applicator cools the targeted tissue to a precise temperature that damages fat cells while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. The cold exposure triggers apoptosis, a natural process of programmed cell death. Over the following weeks the body's immune system gradually breaks down the treated cells and clears them through the lymphatic system, in the same way it processes dietary fat. Because this is a gradual biological process, results develop over weeks rather than days.

Fat cells cleared in this way do not regenerate, although remaining fat cells can still enlarge with weight gain. A stable weight and healthy lifestyle help maintain your result.

Why we use flat-panel applicators:

Traditional cryolipolysis applicators draw tissue into a cup under vacuum suction.  We exclusively use flat-panel handle applicators, which sit directly on the skin and deliver even, consistent cooling without suction. This is generally associated with less pulling sensation during treatment and less bruising afterwards, allows treatment of firmer and more contoured areas such as the back, arms and jawline, and lets us treat up to three areas in a single one-hour session.

Abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, back, upper arms, bra line, under the chin and facial contouring.

What to expect:

Every treatment begins with a consultation with a qualified dermal clinician to assess suitability, review your medical history and plan your treatment. On the day, the treatment areas are marked and photographed, a protective gel membrane is applied, and the applicators are positioned for the cooling cycle. Most patients feel an intense cold sensation for the first several minutes before the area becomes numb and comfortable. There is no recovery period required.

Changes appear gradually, with the most noticeable difference typically seen at around 2-4 weeks and up to 3 months . A course of around three sessions to the same area is common; the number you may need depends on the area, the amount of fat and your goals.
